Spock

Ink and pencil on 11 x 14 coquille board. Appears on the cover of the Star Trek fanzine, "Enterprize Incidents." I've been a fan of science fiction literature since 1950, reading and collecting SF books and magazines with a passion, my house is full of them. But I was never a fan of the Star Trek TV series. Though I have enjoyed some of the episodes, more often than not, I have been disappointed at the storylines that fell far short of my expectations. I had hoped that the series would deal with the kind of problems man would really have to deal with in exploring the universe. The real dangers and difficulties of traveling through interstellar space, the problem that "time" presents, the discovery of new and different life forms with all sorts of possible ramifications, all this was ignored in favor of stories that were more fantasy than science fiction.
